The Great Tournament

The Great Tournament is an interactive fiction game where you play a young man travelling all over the kingdom, from tournament to tournament, competing in jousting, sword fighting, and archery competitions. The expertise of your character will depend on you.

At the beginning of the story you have to create your character by choosing one of the available names or making up your own. Once you have completed this first step, you need to allocate five quality points, which can stem from strength, agility, diplomacy, intelligence, or wisdom. Each quality allows you to pass a certain kind of test.

As you progress through the story, you have to make decisions which will change the course of events. Depending on your actions there are several different endings, which can end up anywhere from you becoming a legendary hero ... to dying in a dirty alleyway. So, be very careful with the decisions you make.

The Great Tournament is a thrilling interactive fiction, which, although lacking in graphics (apart from the occasional sketch) and sound effects, certainly offers a very engrossing story. Best of all, the story unfolds consistently with your actions.
